In Japan, 2 pairs of chopsticks are called "Meoto-bashi."

Meoto means a married couple, and bashi or Hashi means chopsticks.

How can we choose most suitable chopsticks for us?

 

It is said that the best chopsticks for each person is "Hito-Ata-Han."

"Hito-Ata" or 1 Ata is a standard of length. Han means half.

1 Ata is a length that "when you open your thumb and index finger vertically, the length is a line tying the tips of both fingers."

So, your "Hito-Ata-Han" is 1.5 times of the length.

In my case, my hand is very small.

My "Hito-Ata-Han" is about 18cm.

 

In general, chopsticks for men are 23~25cm, for women are 21~23cm in Japan.

Hands of men and women are different. Therefore, the length are different.

However, there are many couples that the size of hands do not differ from wife from husband.
